I was afraid of kale in smoothies. I thought it would be bitter and have that earthy “rough” taste. Um…no. I was so wrong. Paired with some tart from lemon and lime juice and some sweet from frozen mangos, it’s perfect. I’ve been making this one for a while now. Sometimes I’ll drink it smooth, but adding some fruit chunks and my favorite homemade granola makes it the perfect filling snack or breakfast.
Last year we got a vitamix and as a family who uses it at least daily, it was a purchase totally worth it. I can’t vouch for how this smoothie will do in a regular blender, especially because there is no added liquid. But if you have a high powered blender, you’ll be just fine.
Protein powder. These are the two that I like; they are both plant-based and have no sugar added.
Maybe I should be more explorative in my smoothie making. Honestly, besides a simplified version of peanut butter oatmeal smoothie, this is all I’ve been making for the last several months.
Anyone else have some winning combos they want to share with me?
