You’re here!! I’m Bonnie.
Welcome to my online home for all things movement-based.
I’m a sucker for muscles, I love yoga, and I’m trying to live a mindful life.
I have 3 kids, 1 cat, 1 hamster, and a house full of plants. I love to hike, pick up agates on the beach, and paddle board. I used to have a food blog called Carrot Bowl, but decided I was more interested in moving my body and teaching than creating recipes.
I am a 240 hour yoga teacher and NASM personal trainer.
It all started in my garage.
First I was a runner.
I got a treadmill and a couple foam squares to exercise on in our garage. There were only two small lightbulbs and the garage opener light that would turn off as I worked out.
Eventually I got more foam squares, pushed more garage things out, and bought more equipment.
Friends would ask me about my workouts and after a while I wondered if I wrote up a workout and invited people over to do it, would they be interested? The answer was yes.
I didn’t plan on being a fitness coach, but the organic growth of the community was amazing. The women who showed up worked hard. They built each other up. It was contagious and empowering to be around these ladies.
About a year later some people commented that I should try yoga. Having also found yoga people on instagram, I decided to go for it. My first class was actually on a dock in Mexico with my husband.
I’ve always been athletic, but yoga challenged me in a whole new way. It required a different focus and softness while still maintaining strength and awareness. It was hard! I quickly began showing up for heated Vinyasa Power classes and it was my sanctuary. The practice gave me space to explore being graceful and I never thought I would feel that. Being lean and tall, dancing has always been enthralling to me, but I’ve never felt body-confident to let myself free to explore it. That changed.
The ladies that came to my gym asked when I was going to start teaching yoga.
I didn’t expect that.
It took several months of convincing.
I’d never taught before, but they were willing to be patient with my learning.
They have truly propelled me forward.
Up to 12 people filled my garage to practice in late evening classes. We were surrounded by workout equipment, shelves full of kid toys, paint, and tools. The vacuum was even there.
It was amazing.
It lit my fire.
I decided to get certified as a trainer and a yoga teacher so I’d have more understanding and skill to offer.
The NASM online program was great for personal training and I took the Yogamazé training course with Rocky Heron for my 200 hour YTT. I’ve also done a 40 hour inversion yoga training with Patrick Beach and Carling Harps.
It’s hard to put into words how it feels to be here now.
It feels right.
Yoga showed up for me at the time I was ready for it and needed it.
Regardless of where you’re coming from, what you can do, who you are, and where you are going, yoga is for you. It’s for everyBODY. It’s the practice of finding strength mixed with grace and stability grounded with ease. The practice of combining these things physically leads to mental clarity and a spiritual center. It becomes a home. Add community with that and it becomes even more powerful.
I still coach workouts a couple times a week but am most excited to dive deeper into teaching yoga.
My goal is to teach you yoga that fills your body with wholeness.
I’m holding space for your freedom to move.
